Cadiz Province: natural beauty, our favourite so far

We left Malaga and drove along the coast road of the Cost del Sol. There were miles and miles and miles of apartment developments across the beachfront. It seemed to stretch on forever and ever. We headed to Tarifa - the southern-most point in Spain. As you leave the Costa del Sol, it is like a breath of fresh air driving through the National Park and then arriving on the Atlantic Coast. MoneyPenny cruised into Tarifa with views of Morocco and we enjoyed the kitesurfing, surfboard youthful environment over a tapas lunch.

Our base for the next few nights was Casa La Siesta - a rural retreat not far from Vejer de la Frontera https://casalasiesta.com/. The food at this hotel was fabulous and gave us a little sense of being 'at home' for a few days after many weeks on the road. We opted to 'eat in' each evening after a refreshing dip in the pool and the meals were delicious. The eggs at breakfast were obviously local and the best we've had in years! This part of Spain is SO beautiful and unspoilt. The farms are active with cows/bulls, barley and sunflowers. The beaches have beautiful sand and no development on their foreshore and the weather is beautiful. Honestly, without MoneyPenny we probably would not have found this beautiful part of our planet.

The beaches at Cape Trafalgar and Canos de Meca were so unspoilt and beautiful. I almost don't want to share this secret!

The vibrant white hilltop town Vejer de la Frontera was an absolute favourite for us followed by Medina-Sidonia. These are not on the well-worn tourist trail of pueblos blancos but were SOOOO much better!

Whilst parking at Casa la Siesta MoneyPenny got VERY dusty, so we gave her a wash and headed for an overnight in Cadiz to finish off in this beautiful part of Spain. We stayed at the Parador de Cadiz https://paradores.es/es/parador-de-cadiz which had beautiful sea views from the balcony and undercover parking. It is right on the seafront and just next to the old town. You can walk everywhere from this hotel - the Roman theatre, cathedral etc.
