This morning we left Chamonix at around 9.00am with the beautiful Mont Blanc in full sunshine. What an amazing mountain! We had to queue for the Mont Blanc Tunnel for around 45 minutes and headed towards Italy! The number of cars in the tunnel is limited because of a serious accident that occurred in 1999 killing 39 people.

There were SOOO many tunnels on this journey that we lost count. MoneyPenny loves the speed and enjoys a comfortable ride at 95-105 miles per hour (160kms/hour). The drive to Montepulciano from Chamonix was about 650kms and we arrived at around 4.00pm after a few fuel and comfort stops along the way.

The motorways were a great way to get the kms behind us as we head to the Amalfi Coast as our final destination. The road after exiting the Mont Blanc Tunnel descends spectacularly and we drove on past Milano, Bologna and Firenze.

Montepulciano is a beautiful hilltop town in Tuscany, not far off the A1 and we are now getting ready to enjoy our first dinner in Italy!

MoneyPenny has done some kms in the last three days and resting up in a beautiful parking space overlooking the Tuscan countryside!
