We arrived in beautiful Girona after the long drive from Saint Tropez. We had visited Girona in 2019 BCCW (Before Classic Car Wife) and really loved it. This is a stunning city with magnificent buildings, art, museums and culture. I had booked us into the Hotel Historic in the old town - a beautiful conversion of on old building and our room was stunning! It's a family owned and run hotel and very friendly. Being an old town there was no parking but we lucked it with a free spot in the street just outside the city walls and dragged our bags up the hill. There was a music festival on the walled terraces and we had a delicious tapas meal sitting outside in the warm evening air, watching the people go by.
Unfortunately there was a brochure for the Girona Car Museum in the lobby of our hotel...so on our first morning in Spain we went to another #@% car museum - of course! Mr F was very excited by this very organic and eclectic collection. He actually admits to seeing cars here that he didn't even know existed. The 'Pegaso' (a coach built sports car of the 1950s) was his favourite.
After the 'excitement' of the Girona Car Museum we were headed for Valencia. Having visited this part of Spain before before, it was our plan to fast track down to the south to explore parts unknown. During one of our fuel stops I returned from a visit to the restrooms to see an ominous sign....the contents of our boot on the ground behind our car and the bonnet lid raised. Mr F had noticed the smell of coolant and thought he would check it out. It's just as well he did, because we had a leak in one of the radiator hoses. Fortunately we were able to buy some larger clamps for the hose and top up with coolant, then got back on our way.
We made our way to Valencia ready to explore a little of the Costa Blanco. More to come on Valencia and Alicante in my next post.
