MoneyPenny had a rest day at the hotel today. We have walked to all the sights today! It's just as well because we need to walk off some of the calories we have consumed.

Restaurant recommendation: Last night we had an amazing meal at Le Choiseul Amboise at the 36 restaurant https://www.lechoiseulamboise.com/restaurant/

Amazing food and service!!!!

The Chateaux Amboise which towers over our hotel, was the home of Francois1 and his establishment of the Knights of the the Order of St Michael. Such a beautiful and interesting place to visit! We even had live music (harpist, flautist and violinist) plus a mime artist. So French and so sophisticated. Love it!

The Close Luce: Home to Leonardo da Vinci at the end of his life, this home is beautiful and it was amazing to his workshop and library where he created an innovated. We also enjoyed the gardens that contain models of many of his inventions and a special exhibition about his anatomical drawings and involvement in dissecting cadavers to learn about the human body. Incredible!!

The Chateaux Gaillard: Wow! This was a surprise and a real highlight for us. This Chateaux was discovered in 2011 and was the former property of Charles VIII and the first place in France to establish orange trees and an Italian-Style garden. The private owner of this property has done an amazing job at restoring it. He must have spent a fortune! New sanitation and water pipes, new slate roofing, hand-painted wall features, new stained glass windows, new under floor heating and flooring etc etc. The owner lives at the property with his wife. We saw him racing around with his gardener to move some citrus trees to avoid incoming strong winds. This place might not be on the most famous list of Chateaux but it is so impressive what has been achieved in restoring this place. We highly recommend visiting this place! We wish we lived there!!!
