From Winter to Summer: Amboise to Bordeaux

Writer's picture: classiccarwifeclassiccarwife

Our few days in Amboise were unseasonably chilly and windy but we still put the roof down and enjoyed driving the countryside and seeing 'les chateaux'. Unfortunately there were no photo opportunities of MoneyPenny in front of Chambord - they keep the public parking well away from the main attractions. I did however, manage to purchase a very nice Imari-style vase for 20 Euros at a market in Montrichard. MoneyPenny's luggage capacity is going to be stretched by the end of this holiday!

Today we have driven to Bordeaux. It took us about four hours and we struck quite a bit of congestion coming in on the A10. It is much warmer here and MoneyPenny's air-conditioning got a bit of a workout this afternoon. So far so good. We are staying at Le Boutique Hotel and Spa, which is quite central but we have had to leave MoneyPenny in a nearby parking station - Q-Park Clemencau. Like many old cities you need to trade off the central location for the ability to get private parking for your classic car. If you are not comfortable with leaving your car in a public carpark, this is not the hotel for you.

Tomorrow our Coast-to-Coast Odyssey begins. We plan to drive from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean via the Dordogne over the next week or so. Stay tuned!

Good night from Bordeaux where it is lovely and warm!
