After the long and eventful drive from Pompeii we spent two nights in Genoa. Although I had plans to drive to Portofino etc, we really just needed some catch-up time. The Hotel Palazzo Grillo was very nice. The historical features in the building were truly something. We visited the Maritime Museum in Genoa which was really interesting and well done. It sums up the history of this busy port town.
We've had very hot weather and unfortunately MoneyPenny still refuses to provide us with air-conditioning. Mr F tried re-gassing her in the carpark, but unfortunately that didn't solve the problem. It was good to get back to France and we have settled into our AirBnB apartment in St Tropez. This is one of our favourite places in the world. We love the beach, the vibe and the general sophistication of this town. There's a very good undercover, secure public parking station in town which has become MoneyPenny's base while we are here. Each day we drive her to the beach and have seen a number of other lovely cars along the way - a couple of Bentleys, a Rolls Royce Corniche, an E-type Jaguar roadster being unloaded from a transporter, lots of Mini-Mokes, some Ferraris, a Lamborghini and Porches.
We were here for the Bastille Day celebrations and some amazing fireworks over the harbour last night. What a treat! We're here for a few more nights, so stay tuned for the next leg of our journey in a few days time!
