Ah, the joys of holidaying in a classic car. This morning, MoneyPenny's battery started discharging and the warning light came on as we were heading out for the day to see 'not a car museum but an aircraft museum' called Aeroscopia by Airbus. The contents of our car's boot have been emptied onto the ground so many times today to access the battery that I gave up taking photos. See some of the highlights below.

The brain cogs of my dear husband have been whirring away in overdrive all day. Multiple diagnostic tools, gadgets and meters have appeared out of thin air and have been put to use repeatedly. We decided to go to the museum anyway and then go on to one of several auto-electricians that we found via Google. They were due to open at 2pm (after closing for lunch we assumed). We went to THREE places and they were all were closed! We eventually worked out that today is 15th August which is a public holiday for the Assumption of Mary. There was no way we would be getting the car fixed today.

By this time the voltage was getting pretty low. Mr F was thinking of how many new gadgets he might need to buy to solve this problem and we managed to make it to a Carrefour Hypermarket where they have an ENTIRE aisle of car stuff!!!!

So now we are back at the hotel, MoneyPenny's battery is on the brand-new charger we bought this afternoon and Mr F is scouring the Internet to see where he can get a new alternator and plans to install it himself tomorrow. He has identified the generic part and we hope that when everything reopens tomorrow that we'll have some good luck and find what we need. We are not sure whether we'll get to Marseilles as planned tomorrow night.
