Motor Classica 2022 Melbourne

It's been a few years since this fantastic (usually annual) car show has been held so it was great to be back at the beautiful Melbourne Exhibition Building and to see so many car 'nerds' enjoying the excitement of beautiful and rare classic cars on display. The 'nerds' are a diverse bunch, heavily stacked by older gents in groups of 3-4 but also including family groups, teenagers and bohemians. I love the way they stand in awe over the engines and take photos endlessly. Mr F now has an i-phone full of hundreds of photos from this show alone. They include engines, wheels, hubcaps, dashboards, steering wheels, lights, door handles, and I could go on. Mostly this is because he has at least seven restoration project cars (that I am aware of). I'm going to start a new section to this blog soon describing some of these cars. Stay tuned!

This year at Motor Classica, the car clubs and exhibits were less prevalent than usual but perhaps that's due to some of the uncertainty lingering from the COVID-19 pandemic. Here's few of our favourite cars from the show.

and then there are the photos of car parts...

and the nerds...

we also had a fun day out in the Dandenongs on Puffing Billy and went to a fantastic show - Hairspray the Musical.

We rate this car show as one of the best in Australia and recommend it highly! Hopefully it will be back to full capacity in 2023!
